mixed signals

A young couple in Boston Public Gardens. She has her arm around his shoulders, very possessive, but her face is turned away from him and she looks upset.

It looks like he's trying to placate her, putting his face near hers, though hers is still turned away and then she takes her arm away from his shoulders and folds her arms.

He puts his arms around her and she smiles - or maybe it's a grimace. She keeps her arms folded and her face turned away, his arms around her.

They embrace, she pulls away. They stop to look at the ducklings and smile and say (I think) how cute they are. They embrace again, then again pull away.
