A mother strangled her severely autistic son with a belt in a hotel room. They were not discovered for three days, when she was found sitting on the bed in the darkened room covered in blood after cutting her wrists. After leaving her violent husband, she was terrified the boy would be taken into care and didn't trust anyone else to look after him.
